Out past that, the Route 128 and I-495 tech belts hold a second wave of headquarters (Thermo Fisher, Boston Scientific, Analog Devices, TJX) in car-dependent office parks 15 to 30 miles from the city. The question that decides a Boston trip isn't the airport — it's whether your campus is in the core or the belt, because that sets whether you can take the T or need a car.

Logan, the T, and the car question
One main airport: Boston Logan (BOS), unusually close to downtown — the Seaport is about 10 minutes, Back Bay and Kendall ~15. The Silver Line runs from Logan into the Seaport, and the T (subway) covers the whole core — the Red line through Kendall Square, the Green and Orange through Back Bay — so for a core campus you can skip a car entirely. For the Route 128 and I-495 belts, the T doesn't reach, and the campuses are car-oriented with free parking, so rent a car. Manchester, NH (MHT) and Providence, RI (PVD) are distant, sometimes-cheaper alternatives for the suburbs.
